SOTU
Following along [after a couple of networking blips] with the State of the Union speech and Twitter via Nambu. Sadly, the SOTU speech was spoiled for me an hour+ before hand, as I had already received e.mails highlighting points of the speech. I kinda felt like a kid who’s Christmas gifts were all spoiled by finding out what they were the night before.
Looking Forward, Looking Back
Today’s image is a bit of a weird one, but I really like it. It was taken from my iPhone, in a holster attached to the windshield of my car. I keep it there when I use the GPS feature of the phone. Hooked around the holster are a pair of sunglasses. The camera, at the top of the phone, was aimed right at the glasses, which, in turn, are reflecting the front windshield of my car, looking behind me! Here you can see the empty passenger seat, rear view mirror, and roofline above the windshield. I took over 80 different shots, but most had focus issues. I’m going to have to play with this again, setting the sunglasses at a slightly different angle [a few shots showed both driver and passenger seats, but they were too fuzzy].
These are the fun snapshots that are neat to play with. If you have a camera phone, and one of those holders that attaches to your windshield, give this a try! All you need are some reflective sunglasses and the sun in the right spot in the sky. I would advise to play with the angle and focusing while the car is NOT moving. I didn’t mess with any of that, as I was driving and just had the camera take photos every few seconds, but I wish I had pulled over and looked closer at the focusing so I would have ended up with 80+ sharp images instead of just 6!
Pink Heat
A last minute photo of the day – a snapshot of a pet warmer that I am now using under my electric blanket. One of the controllers started smoking a few weeks ago, so I’ve not been brave enough to try the other controller just yet. For some reason at night I’ve been very cold, so tonight I am going to try this microwave plastic thingy that is used to keep the cats’ beds warm!
For Rent Cheep!
I’m really hoping that the spelling of “cheap” was done incorrectly on purpose [like a bird "cheeps"?] as this bird house is right next to Davidson River School on the Brevard Sports Complex side. I took a walk there today and snapped some photos with my iPhone. You can see a few more at my Flickr site.
About 3.5″ of snow still on the ground and another 1/2″ fell this evening. This is what Winter is all about!
Laws of Illusion
A very quick snapshot of a CD from Sarah McLachlan. Today I was mixed up for someone in her band for the 2nd time in 5 years. I kinda find it funny. I really like her music and I’m a big fan, but my musical talent goes as far as appreciation – no instrument skills for me!
Chocolate
I actually didn’t go out today – spent most of the day in bed. Very sore from yesterday, but finally starting to feel a bit better. Had some sugar free hot fudge on low-fat chocolate ice cream and a low fat cake. Yum! Yeah, it’s an iPhone photo. Thursday I should be up and walking back to the post office and hopefully do some shooting. Roads are still too icy here to drive on.
The Missing Key
These are my keys. Nothing special. But actually there is something special: a key is missing. The key to Theresa’s 4×4 truck. The only vehicle that can make the trek from here to the post office with this weekend’s orders. After a 5-hour search, her key never turned up. And it is her only key. So Monday I will be walking the 6-mile [each way] trip from up here to down where the post office is. We will probably be having about a foot of snow on the ground. I’ve shut the online bookstore down until the key can be found, as it looks like this week I’ll be closed for business.
Drat.
Box O’ B5
For today’s photo….errr…snapshot, I give you a quick snap of a Christmas gift – a box of Babylon 5 mass market paperbacks. Being a big fan of the show, I had never read any of the novels, and since all but 1 of them are very, very cheap on Amazon, my folks purchased these for me for Christmas. I can hardly wait to break into them, as it has been a long time since I’ve seen/read any original adventures of these great characters. I can’t wait!
Live long and prosper
As the AT&T connection and wifi fade in and out leaving
corrupt photo uploads [will fix yesterday's when back home] I can
only hope this photo of Theresa putting her hand where Leonard
Nemoy’s once was will actually upload!
December 30, 2010
Prepping for a site redesign! Yes, I’m making some major changes to this site for 2011! I actually hope to debut it Friday afternoon, on the 31st. But here you get a sneak peak as today’s photo of the day, thanks to my trusty iPhone.
