That’s No Pizza
Let’s see here. We have some soft pretzels, but they’re out of them, and..oh, on this side we have some popcorn, and in the middle, aaaah, yummy and hot pizza! No. Wait. That’s no pizza!
Nothing Fancy
Today’s photo is nothing fancy. Just a shot of 3 of the 5 external drives I have hooked up to my main computer. They each contain 2 2GB drives in a RAID-1 configuration. This means that there is “only” 6GB of data, not 12GB, as the drives in each unit mirror each other. I swap out the drives inside one of the units fairly often. It contains my Aperture Vaults [backups of my photos]. The other contains the current Aperture projects I’m working on and the 3rd contains the current film/video projects I’m working on. I have many other drives, but these units are very solid and they are easy to swap drives in and out of [something i am doing way too often as images and video files fill up each drive]. I back the data up on other drives and remotely via Crashplan. I’ve also got a tape drive that monthly backups are made on.
Each drive has a Tron lightcycle on top. Yeah, I’m a sucker for Tron.

Yes, I Can Hear You Now
Apparently pigs have learned to fly. Today I touched and used a Verizon iPhone for the first time. Dare I say – it was my first experience with any sort of iPhone 4, as I know nobody in these parts who has one [i own an iPhone 3GS]. Theresa’s pre-order for her Verizon iPhone 4 came to the shop today, so I just had to visit it…I mean, her.
So as she serviced clients, I *cough* tested *cough* the phone out, taking this image with my iPhone 3GS. Why is there a weird blue bar at the bottom of the image? Because I got sloppy in post-processing. This image had to be white balance-color corrected in post. But the screen of the iPhone was perfectly balanced. I needed to turn the sheet of hair color samples from being orange to something more closely resembling white. So I created a mask for the iPhone screen and inversed the selection, changing the white balance for the rest of the image. But I cropped the bottom of the screen poorly, so it got color corrected.
Anyway, yes, we are at level 6 with this iPhone 4. It actually *works*. I mean, you get a signal! And it is 3G. My AT&T iPhone stays on Edge most of the when I travel into town. At home, I’m stuck at “No Service”.
Mechanic’s Office
You can really tell when I’m working on non-photographic projects as my images of the day really, REALLY suffer. This is simply a snapshot I took with my phone while waiting for my car to pass safety inspection. It wasn’t intended on being the photo of the day, but I ended up with no time left to shoot anything. I really gotta change this habit and get to shooting something earlier in the day! Sorry about this folks…
Dunn’s Mill
Today was another road trip, but again, I couldn’t bring my camera [other than my phone], so I didn’t stop much to take photos. One of my careers is as a used book store owner, so I often travel to places that are selling books cheap [so that i can resell them]. When I go to those places I don’t take my camera due to security concerns. Today I traveled deep into the Smokey Mountains, but on the Tennessee side of the border. I saw a ton of great things to shoot, so I will definitely be back this way with camera in hand.
This building houses a very, very large bookstore that is, sadly, going out of business. I bought some of the owner’s inventory. This place is fairly close by – only 128 miles away, but it takes nearly 3 hours to drive due to the rural roads [and even parts of I-40 which are 55mph and sometimes 50mph around sharp turns]. I was thankful that it was mainly a rainy day and not a snowy and icy one!

It’s a blur
Yes, the ceiling fan again. Things have been in a blur lately though I didn’t do what I wanted with this image [make it look really blurry], but it is 3 minutes till midnight, so….
Quick Road Shot
I didn’t take the photos I was intending on taking today, but I did snap a shot with my iPhone on a 2-lane road in Pisgah Forest, NC. Nothing special, but it was kinda my “if I’m desperate” backup photo!
