Work Force or Bust
I forgot to upload this photo last night, but yeah, nothing too special. I’ve been spending all day and all night working, so I can make up for a week’s worth of lost business due to prepping and filming for the 48 Hour Film Project. I recently purchased [at a very, very low price!] this printer to replace my prior Epson, which was a freebie that came with the Mac mini, but it is too slow for the business’ needs, so an upgrade was in order. This also replaces a dead card reader and a USB modem that I no longer need since this printer can FAX [and my fax software won't run under Mac OS X Lion, when I eventually upgrade the mini to it]. It’s an Epson Workforce 635 and so far it works very, very well. If you find a good deal on this or the 630, buy it! I’ve never had any issues with Epson products [like Mazda and Canon, i tend to endorse everything they make since i've had such good experiences with their products].
Hot Day in Asheville
Spent the morning in Asheville, NC for some business. I couldn’t bring my camera with me, but I was able to snap a few shots off from a parking deck before leaving for the mountains. The electrical transformer area was what I was focused on, but I don’t dare use the zoom on my iPhone, as it is a digital zoom and doesn’t work well. But I post-processed this on the iPhone and kinda liked the yellow/hot look to it. Been working all day and will continue to do so all day Sunday. I need to catch up from taking time off for doing the 48 Hour Film Project!
Wet Keyboard?
A last minute iPhone photo taken with the app, MagicHour. No, the keyboard really isn’t wet – that’s a preset filter for the app, which I thought was kinda funny. I’ve been using that keyboard for over 16 hours today and I’m quite exhausted. Time for bed!
More Books!
As I finally catch up with my photo of the day [and sleep!] I sit here with over 300 books that need to be entered and listed for sale on my online bookstore. Looks like Friday is going to be a busy day of work for the book business!
August in July
[as i write this, it is July 21st, but i did take photos each day for the last several days - am just now able to catch up and upload them!]
Still recovering from sleep deprivation from the 48 Hour Film Project, Tuesday evening was all about a read-through for the Fall production at BRCC of August: Osage County. After more than 3 years of trying to get the rights to the play, Drama Department Director, Jennifer Treadway, finally was able to gain rights to perform the Pulitzer Prize winning play in November, 2011. Z. Joseph Guice will be directing the production.
Hitting the Wall
[as i write this, it is July 21st, but i did take photos each day for the last several days - am just now able to catch up and upload them!]
Come Monday, I had to return some equipment I rented, catch up on the weekend orders and drive around the WNC area for what felt like hours [and, actually, it was]. I was exhausted, and felt like I hit the wall. So what better photo for Monday’s photo of the day, but this one I took with my iPhone [really!] of an area near Asheville where I rented some camera gear. I was half asleep when I shot this, but obviously I need to go back and shoot this some more – I mean come on! Old brick building with worn parking spaces – just the stuff I love to shoot!
Dinner Break!
[as i write this, it is July 21st, but i did take photos each day for the last several days - am just now able to catch up and upload them!]
This shot was taken at 9:33pm, Saturday evening. We really, really needed some food. Well, myself and Joe. Both of us were hitting the wall hard and most of his scenes hadn’t even been shot yet! So we hung out on the floor of Theresa’s apartment, eating pretty good food from a local Thai [or Chinese?] place. Pictured here, from left: Claire Bowerman, actress; Andrea Cobb, production assistant and lighting assistant; Allyson Balla, production assistant; Andy Balla, sound & lighting guy, tech director and assistant editor; Theresa Cox [up on the stairs], co-director/editor/actor; Jack “John” Carruth, actor; Z. Joseph Guice, actor.
Moments after this photo was taken, we began shooting Joe’s scenes involving him on the phone. Interested in seeing the final product of our entry into the Asheville 48 Hour Film Project? Visit YouTube!
DVD needs jailbroken
Nothing special today – a snapshot from my iPhone 10 minutes before midnight, taken with this app that makes cartoonish photos/videos [with several different filters]. Kinda like that Ah Ha video from way back when. Been focusing on video lately – need to shoot more. Have some 4th of July pix up at Flickr and will post more Wednesday night from downtown Brevard, NC and the car show and stuff…for now, off to bed, as I am posting this way too late!
Video 3, Photo 2
It finally happened – I now have more external RAID drives dedicated to video files than I do photo files. Well, that’s not really fair, since there are 2 more drives with photos that aren’t shown, but as far as “live” data goes, I now have access to more video files than photos. Well, again, that’s not fair. Video files take up a TON more room than photos. So I guess all this means is: I have more terabytes of live video files than I do of live photo files.
And July 4th’s photo will finally be worthy of posting here again. I’ve been in a photo rut far too long!
