A misty mountain backyard greets me this afternoon. You can still see plenty of damage from February’s ice storm. The tree that’s broke right in front used to have a cool bird feeder on it. It also produced awesome blossoms every spring. Not sure that’s gonna happen this year.
This is what I see when I’m on the computer in the morning/afternoon. I’ll have to shoot a shot with the computer included. Soon all that brown ground cover will be gone, covered with ferns and the trees will be lush with life. Green North Carolina will make a comeback!

is that yellow thing a bird?
Not sure what yellow thing you’re talking about – too bad one can’t mark on the photo!
But if you mean where the tree is broken at the top of the “A” shape, no. That’s just fresh wood [wood guts?] from the inside of the tree. The rain/mist made the color look even brighter, but it is a light wood color in real life.
