Wheels Up

[as i write this, it is July 21st, but i did take photos each day for the last several days - am just now able to catch up and upload them!]

Late in the evening, July 17th, a super quick shot was taken by me of my portable dolly. After having turned in the film with 10 minutes to spare [which is better than the 10...9....8...seconds to spare when the BRCC team I was part of turned in their 2008 film!], I was pretty exhausted. Realizing I hadn’t taken a photo yet, I took a few shots of these wheels, as the title of this image popped into my head [it's an aviation term for when the landing gear has been retracted]. Since our film had aviation in it [one of the main characters was a mechanic at a small airport], I thought it fit. It was a long 48 hours and we didn’t stop filming until 2:30am Sunday morning! That is beyond insane, as most folks tend to wrap by 9-10pm Saturday night. That made editing a bit tough since the person doing the filming [me] was also the editor so my hopeful 2-3 hours of sleep got delayed until I just couldn’t stay awake any longer. But the film got turned in! It’s not as tight as I was hoping, but that’s mainly due to editing. The story, acting, lights, sound, and most of the camera work were spot on. A lot of me wishes I had done more fancy camera work and smoothed out a few of the shots in editing that were a bit jagged, but for a first time 48 hour film, it’s not too shabby!
